First log in to Online Exam Maker, click [Exams]-[Exams List]-[New Exam] to enter the page for creating exams.

The first step to create an exam: fill in the basic information of the exam

Users only need to fill in the title of the exam, select the exam category,and  select or upload a picture as the cover of the exam.

The second step of creating exams: select questions

1.Select the Random grouping method and click [Add category] to add questions;

2.Choose question categories in the pop-up page, and click [Select];

3.The administrator can set the quantity of the questions and the points of each question by category;

Or the administrator can also click [Expand] and make some more detailed settings. The administrator can decide to choose questions from the question bank or the wrong question bank. The administrator can also choose the difficulty level of the questions to filter the questions. The quantity of different question types and the point of each question of different question types can also be set respectively.

The administrator can also set the order of the questions. [Sort by question type], [Sort by category] and random order of the questions can be set by the administrator. Random question options can also be set by the administrator. After setting, click Save to go on creating exams.

4.Import Questions from Word or Excel: Users can use Word or Excel documents to import questions with one click.

Users can download word and Excel format templates, edit questions according to the template, and upload the documents to the system to import the test questions.

How to turn on Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring?

After creating an exam, in the [Anti-Cheating] setting of the exam, you need to enable surveillance camera before you can check the “Enable intelligent anti-cheating monitoring” function.

Tips:

If intelligent anti-cheating monitoring is enabled, users are advised to enable the [Allow to login before entering the exam] function, allowing candidates to log in 30 minutes in advance and prepare for lens adjustment, identity verification, and face recognition required for intelligent anti-cheating monitoring to enter the exam on time.

How to use the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function?

1.To use the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function, we need to limit the number of suspected cheating behaviors listed in the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring settings. When candidates make these behaviors and exceed the set number of times, the system will force the paper to be handed in; regarding the sound detection, the sound sensitivity level can be set by the administrator(low, middle, high). When the candidate’s sound is greater than the set sensitivity, it will be detected as a suspected cheating behavior.

2.For exams with the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function enabled, if the candidate’s face is not in the lens for more than 10 seconds during the exam, the system will automatically hand in the paper; If the [Face Recognition] function is also turned on at the same time, you can set the number of times that “Detect that the face matching failed”. And if the times exceeds, the paper will be handed in automatically.

How do candidates take exams? How does the system intelligently detect cheating?

Step 1: Adjust the lens

After clicking the link of exam, candidates need to adjust the lens. The examinee moves his face in the middle of the lens, and then clicks to enter the examination if it meets the requirements.

Step 2: Confirm personal information

Candidates need to ensure that their personal information is correct and then proceed to the next step, and if there is anything wrong, candidates should exit and report to the administrator.

If face recognition is enabled, the face of candidates should be matched with the photos to enter the exam successfully.

Step 3: Monitoring will be on the whole process during the exam

• Detect the presence of multiple faces

If multiple faces appear in front of the camera, the system will give a warning. If this behavior occurs more than the set times, the system will immediately force the paper to be submitted if it happens again.

• Detect the absence of candidate for more than 10 seconds

During the exam, if the system detects that there is no candidate in front of the camera for more than 10 seconds, it will automatically hand in the paper immediately.

• Paid test-taker detected

If the candidate changes in the middle of the exam, a warning will be given by the system. If this behavior occurs more than the set number, the paper will be handed in immediately.

Note: Face recognition needs to be turned on, and the system will perform face matching every minute, effectively preventing candidates from hiring the paid exam takers!

• Detect candidates for small movements such as bowing and turning their heads

During the exam, if the examinee bows, turns his head or makes other actions, the system  may detect it as a suspected cheating behavior and will issue a warning. If this behavior occurs more than the set number of times, the system will immediately force the paper to be handed in.

• Detect that there is a sound greater than the set sensitivity

When the examinee makes a sound during the exam and the sensitivity is greater than the set sensitivity, the system will give a warning. If it exceeds the set number of times, the system will force the paper to be handed in.

How can the administrator view the proctoring record?

1. During the exam, the administrator can view the real-time proctoring screen in the background of the system.

(1) Candidate’s single monitoring page;

Enter the [Exam Details], check the candidates who are taking the exam, and click the [Monitor] icon on the right side of each candidate;

As shown in the figure, we can view the real-time screen of a single examinee. At the same time, if the examinee is found to be cheating, we can send a cheating warning.

(2) Multi-person real-time monitoring screen;

Click to enter [Exam Details] to view the [Multi-screen Monitoring] screen;

The system will display real-time pictures of all candidates who are taking the exam.

2. After the exam is over, the administrator can log in Online Exam Maker and enter the [Exam Details] of the exam and view exam records to view the proctoring records of each candidate.

Precautions for Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring Function

(1) It is only supported on Chrome and Firefox browsers, and candidates are recommended to use Windows 10;

(2) Only PC-side exams are supported, and surveillance camera needs to be enabled. Candidates’ computers need to install cameras or use computers with cameras for the exam;

The instructions for score modification are as follows:

1. The questions imported into the system can be used in multiple exams. If the score of a question is modified in a certain exam, it is only modified in this exam, and will not affect the score of other exams and the score of the question in the question bank.

2. If there is a need to revise the sore of a question in a certain exam, the score will follow these rules:

(1) After revising the question scores,  the revised scores will be used instead of the score in the question bank online.

For example, if a question is originally 2 points, and the score of the question is changed to 10 when forming an exam, The candidates will get 10 points if they answer this question correctly.

(2) If a question is set to be scored by blanks, after revising the scores, the system will allocate the score of each blank proportionally.

A: This function is generally applicable to psychological tests. This function, together with the score range message function, can be used for special needs of psychological testing, such as adding multiple-choice questions, customize the score of each option, and set different score ranges to add comments. Comments corresponding to the candidate’s score range will be displayed on the result page.

Note: When creating an exam, do not enable this function if the multiple-choice question has a definite correct answer.

Note:

• Selecting the right answer here does not conflict with the result. It is only used to determine which option the examinee has chosen. The examinee can still get the score set for this option.
• If the score of the question is revised, the score of each option will be allocated proportionally according to the rules of [Instructions for Modifying Test Scores].
• After customizing the score of the options, the total score of the test is the maximum score that the candidate can get, that is the total score of the MAQ = the highest score of the options, the total score of the MCQs = the sum of all the options.

If the score of a test question is modified when composing a paper, only the score of the question in the current test paper is modified. 2. If you need to modify the score of a test question in a test paper, the test score will follow the following rules:

(1) After the test score is modified, the score that candidates get when they answer the question correctly will be based on the modified score, not the score when the test question is imported.

For example, if a question is 2 points, but the score is changed to 10 when the test question is added to the test paper, then the candidates will get a score of 10.

(2) If the fill-in-the-blank questions are set to be scored as blanks during import, after the scores are modified, the system will allocate the scores for each blank according to the proportion.

For example, a fill-in-the-blank question with three spaces, when originally imported, the scores for each space are 2, 2, and 1 (total score is 5);

When adding the test question to the test paper, change the total score of test question from 5 to 10, then each space is calculated in proportion, and the score will be 4, 4, and 2.

(3) When multiple choice questions are set with custom option scores, after modifying the scores, the system will allocate the scores of each option according to the proportion.

For example, the scores of the option ABCD of a multiple-choice question are 1, 2, 3, 4 (total score is 10), and the modified score is 20. The scores of the four options are calculated as 2, 4, 6, and 8.

How to use the face recognition anti-cheating function?

I. Precautions Before Turning on Face Recognition
1. The designated groups should be set to take the exam, and the photos of the candidates of the designated groups must be uploaded. (How to add photo to candidate information?)

III. The Exam Process after Turning on Face Recognition
1. Enter the page of “Agreement of Camera Proctoring” through the exam link shared by the administrator, tick [I have read and agree with the Agreement of Camera Proctoring] , then click [Continue];

2. On exam introduction page, click [Enter the Test];

3. Enter the candidate’s account and click [Log in];

4. On the precautions page, click [I knew, next];

5. Check whether the candidates’ personal information matches, log out and report to the administrator if there is any error. If the information is correct, click [Confirmed and continue] to start matching faces；

6. When face recognition begins, the candidate’s face should be aligned with the identification box. Then the system would scan automatically;

7. After the scan matches successfully, click [Enter the Test]. If the scan fails, there may be no alignment, try again;

8. Start answering questions; the top right corner of the answer interface shows the candidate’s information.
