Introduction to Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/tutorials/intelligent-anti-cheating-monitoring/ Wed, 04 Nov 2020 10:08:29 +0000 https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/?post_type=lipi_kb&p=4219 Online Exam Maker has powerful intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function.

Intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function can be used after the surveillance camera function is turned on, which can effectively prevent candidates from cheating.

The function of intelligent anti-cheating monitoring will comprehensively monitor suspected cheating behaviors of candidates during an exam, including:

  • Suspected cheating behaviors such as bowing and turning head
  • Sound making by the candidates
  • No human facedetected (the human face is not in the monitorable range of the camera or is blocked)
  • Multiple faces detected
  • Candidate authentication detected

The following is the instructions for using the [Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring] function. It is recommended that users read this document carefully before using this function to understand how to use the function, test procedures for candidates, how to view the invigilation records, and precautions for use, etc.

How to turn on Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring?

After creating an exam, in the [Anti-Cheating] setting of the exam, you need to enable surveillance camera before you can check the “Enable intelligent anti-cheating monitoring” function.

Tips:

If intelligent anti-cheating monitoring is enabled, users are advised to enable the [Allow to login before entering the exam] function, allowing candidates to log in 30 minutes in advance and prepare for lens adjustment, identity verification, and face recognition required for intelligent anti-cheating monitoring to enter the exam on time.

How to use the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function?

1.To use the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function, we need to limit the number of suspected cheating behaviors listed in the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring settings. When candidates make these behaviors and exceed the set number of times, the system will force the paper to be handed in; regarding the sound detection, the sound sensitivity level can be set by the administrator(low, middle, high). When the candidate’s sound is greater than the set sensitivity, it will be detected as a suspected cheating behavior.

2.For exams with the intelligent anti-cheating monitoring function enabled, if the candidate’s face is not in the lens for more than 10 seconds during the exam, the system will automatically hand in the paper; If the [Face Recognition] function is also turned on at the same time, you can set the number of times that “Detect that the face matching failed”. And if the times exceeds, the paper will be handed in automatically.

How do candidates take exams? How does the system intelligently detect cheating?

Step 1: Adjust the lens

After clicking the link of exam, candidates need to adjust the lens. The examinee moves his face in the middle of the lens, and then clicks to enter the examination if it meets the requirements.

Step 2: Confirm personal information

Candidates need to ensure that their personal information is correct and then proceed to the next step, and if there is anything wrong, candidates should exit and report to the administrator.

If face recognition is enabled, the face of candidates should be matched with the photos to enter the exam successfully.

Step 3: Monitoring will be on the whole process during the exam

  • Detect the presence of multiple faces

If multiple faces appear in front of the camera, the system will give a warning. If this behavior occurs more than the set times, the system will immediately force the paper to be submitted if it happens again.

  • Detect the absence of candidate for more than 10 seconds

During the exam, if the system detects that there is no candidate in front of the camera for more than 10 seconds, it will automatically hand in the paper immediately.

  • Paid test-taker detected

If the candidate changes in the middle of the exam, a warning will be given by the system. If this behavior occurs more than the set number, the paper will be handed in immediately.

Note: Face recognition needs to be turned on, and the system will perform face matching every minute, effectively preventing candidates from hiring the paid exam takers!

  • Detect candidates for small movements such as bowing and turning their heads

During the exam, if the examinee bows, turns his head or makes other actions, the system  may detect it as a suspected cheating behavior and will issue a warning. If this behavior occurs more than the set number of times, the system will immediately force the paper to be handed in.

  • Detect that there is a sound greater than the set sensitivity

When the examinee makes a sound during the exam and the sensitivity is greater than the set sensitivity, the system will give a warning. If it exceeds the set number of times, the system will force the paper to be handed in.

How can the administrator view the proctoring record?

  1. During the exam, the administrator can view the real-time proctoring screen in the background of the system.

(1) Candidate’s single monitoring page;

Enter the [Exam Details], check the candidates who are taking the exam, and click the [Monitor] icon on the right side of each candidate;

As shown in the figure, we can view the real-time screen of a single examinee. At the same time, if the examinee is found to be cheating, we can send a cheating warning.

(2) Multi-person real-time monitoring screen;

Click to enter [Exam Details] to view the [Multi-screen Monitoring] screen;

The system will display real-time pictures of all candidates who are taking the exam.

  1. After the exam is over, the administrator can log in Online Exam Maker and enter the [Exam Details] of the exam and view exam records to view the proctoring records of each candidate.

As shown in the figure below, the system will record the candidates’ cheating data. Every time a candidate has a suspected cheating behavior, the system will immediately take photos, archive and record them in the form of pictures.

Precautions for Intelligent Anti-Cheating Monitoring Function

(1) It is only supported on Chrome and Firefox browsers, and candidates are recommended to use Windows 10;

(2) Only PC-side exams are supported, and surveillance camera needs to be enabled. Candidates’ computers need to install cameras or use computers with cameras for the exam;

(3) If face recognition is turned on, you need to upload candidates’ photos for face matching, and at the same time, you need to set exam as account login exam (that is, a designated group exam).

Introduction of the Composed Mode of Exams— Part Mode https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/tutorials/exams-composed-mode/ Mon, 24 Aug 2020 10:07:45 +0000 http://onlineexammaker.com/kb/?post_type=lipi_kb&p=3507 When we organize an exam, we need to choose the composed mode of the exam before adding test questions. We can choose Pre-Selected (i.e. fixed test questions), Random questions, or Pre+ Random mode (i.e. fixed + random mode), but in fact, many users have not yet used a very useful exam composed mode-[Compose Exams by Part].

As shown in the picture above, have you noticed the button of [Switch Part Mode]? What is the purpose of this exam composed function? Let’s take a look together.

What are the advantages of composing exams by part?

The way the questions are partly composed is closer to the structure of the school’s exams. Usually, each subject has different question types, such as multiple choice questions, true or false questions, and cloze questions.

Therefore, the advantage of [Compose Exams by Part] is to help schools, education and training institutions simulate offline exams, and to display each module’s question types more clearly.

Let us take a look at how to use this feature.

Case Simulation of Composing Exams by Part

(1) [Switch Part Mode]

When we enter the second step of creating exams, and after adding a test question, click [Switch Part Mode] on the right to make questions by part.

Below we simulate a set of practice questions:

(2) [Compose Exams by Part]

First add section1 as multiple-choice questions, you can add a description for it, for example, you can list the number of questions in this section, the total number of points, and the answering rules.

After adding the description of this section, you can start adding questions.

Then, click [Add Part] at the top left to add a second section.

As shown in the figure, add the second part as true or false questions, and add a description of this section and add the corresponding test questions.

Finally, also click [Add Part] to add a third section, as shown in the figure, add the third section as cloze questions, add a description of this section and add the corresponding test questions.

After the test questions are added, set the test scores, and then set the parameters to publish the test papers.

How can candidates enter the exam?

Candidates can enter the exam as usual. The difference is that the system will display each part, and each part will display the number of questions, total score, and description;

When we finish the first part, we can continue to answer the questions in the second part according to the instructions.

When answering questions on the computer, candidates can clearly see the title of each part and the corresponding question number in the position of the answer sheet.

Instructions of the Settings for Exam Scores https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/tutorials/exam-scores-settings-in-question-bank-online/ Thu, 20 Aug 2020 08:45:45 +0000 http://onlineexammaker.com/kb/?post_type=lipi_kb&p=3459 When adding test questions to the exams, the scores of the questions default to the scores set during import. But users can modify the score of each question.

The instructions for score modification are as follows:

1. The questions imported into the system can be used in multiple exams. If the score of a question is modified in a certain exam, it is only modified in this exam, and will not affect the score of other exams and the score of the question in the question bank.

2. If there is a need to revise the sore of a question in a certain exam, the score will follow these rules:

(1) After revising the question scores,  the revised scores will be used instead of the score in the question bank online.

For example, if a question is originally 2 points, and the score of the question is changed to 10 when forming an exam, The candidates will get 10 points if they answer this question correctly.

Settings for Exam Scores

Settings for Exam Scores

(2) If a question is set to be scored by blanks, after revising the scores, the system will allocate the score of each blank proportionally.

For example, there are three blanks in a question, and the original scores for each space are 2, 2, and 1 (The total score is 5 points.)

question bank online

question bank online

When the total score is changed from 5 to 10 when forming an exam, each blank will be calculated proportionally and the score will turn into 4, 4 and 2.

(3)When the multiple choice questions allow custom option score, the system will assign the score of each option proportionally after revising the scores.

For example, the score of a multiple choice question is customized to 1, 2, 3 and 4 (with a total score of 10). If the total score is changed to 20, the score of the four options will turn into 2, 4, 6 and 8.

Customize the options scores for multiple choice questions https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/tutorials/customize-option-score/ Mon, 10 Aug 2020 10:10:44 +0000 https://www.onlineexammaker.com/kb/?post_type=lipi_kb&p=3164 The multiple-choice questions editing page of online exams system has the function of [allowing custom option score]. Users can set the score of each option and candidates can get the corresponding score.

Q:What types of tests does the function of [allowing custom option score] be suitable for?

A: This function is generally applicable to psychological tests. This function, together with the score range message function, can be used for special needs of psychological testing, such as adding multiple-choice questions, customize the score of each option, and set different score ranges to add comments. Comments corresponding to the candidate’s score range will be displayed on the result page.

Note: When creating an exam, do not enable this function if the multiple-choice question has a definite correct answer.

A simulated online psychological test for reference:

Step 1: Edit the title, descriptions, and cover as usual;

Step 2: Add question stem and options, check [Allow custom option score], and set the score of each option;

Note:

  • Selecting the right answer here does not conflict with the result. It is only used to determine which option the examinee has chosen. The examinee can still get the score set for this option.
  • If the score of the question is revised, the score of each option will be allocated proportionally according to the rules of [Instructions for Modifying Test Scores].
  • After customizing the score of the options, the total score of the test is the maximum score that the candidate can get, that is the total score of the MAQ = the highest score of the options, the total score of the MCQs = the sum of all the options.

Step 3: Parameter Settings. Set the test time, login method, etc., and focus on the setting of score ranges; Select [result page][MSG Setting] [Marking message setting] [Setting score range message], customize the score range, and then fill in the comments.

Step 4: Publish the exam. After completing the setting, you can share the link and the QR code of the test.

Sample result page of candidates:

As shown in the figure below, the system will automatically calculate the total score of an examinee after testing, and the result page will display the comments corresponding to the score range.

At the same time, the preset right answer does not conflict with the result, the examinee can still get the set score of the chosen options. As shown in the figure, when the score of option A is 1, the examinee can get 1 point after choosing A.

Scan the following QR code to try to answer the questions:

Instructions for Modifying Test Scores https://onlineexammaker.com/kb/tutorials/modifying-test-scores/ Mon, 10 Aug 2020 08:36:07 +0000 https://www.onlineexammaker.com/kb/?post_type=lipi_kb&p=3138 If the user adds test questions when composing a test paper (or when editing test questions in [Questions Bank]) , in principle, the system defaults the score of each question to the score set when importing, but the user can modify the score of each question. If you need to modify the test scores in a test paper, please read the following instructions carefully:

1. The test questions imported into the system can be used in multiple test papers. If the score of a test question is modified when composing a paper, only the score of the question in the current test paper is modified. It will only be used once, and will not affect the scores of other test papers. The score displayed in the question bank will not change either.

2. If you need to modify the score of a test question in a test paper, the test score will follow the following rules:

(1) After the test score is modified, the score that candidates get when they answer the question correctly will be based on the modified score, not the score when the test question is imported.

For example, if a question is 2 points, but the score is changed to 10 when the test question is added to the test paper, then the candidates will get a score of 10.

(2) If the fill-in-the-blank questions are set to be scored as blanks during import, after the scores are modified, the system will allocate the scores for each blank according to the proportion.

For example, a fill-in-the-blank question with three spaces, when originally imported, the scores for each space are 2, 2, and 1 (total score is 5);

When adding the test question to the test paper, change the total score of test question from 5 to 10, then each space is calculated in proportion, and the score will be 4, 4, and 2.

(3) When multiple choice questions are set with custom option scores, after modifying the scores, the system will allocate the scores of each option according to the proportion.

For example, the scores of the option ABCD of a multiple-choice question are 1, 2, 3, 4 (total score is 10), and the modified score is 20. The scores of the four options are calculated as 2, 4, 6, and 8.
